There Are Different Means Through Which You Can Take A Consultation:

By Prior Appointment (Preffered Method)

Walk in Patients

  • who come directly to the clinic without taking any appointment.

Patients who donot have a appointment need to understand that they may have to endure waiting time as priority Will Be given to appointment Patients Over walkins

Emergency Patients

  • (In case There Is an Emergency) Emergency takes precedence over appointments as well as walkins.

If you need to cancel/Reschedule an appointment:

Telephone the clinic/orthopedic helpline preferably during working hours and allow at least 1 day’s notice so that we can offer your appointment time to patients on our waiting list.

We recognize that your time is valuable, and we make every effort to run on time. Occasionally emergencies or patients require a little more time, and these cause scheduling delays beyond our control. We apologize if we keep you waiting.

For New Patients

Your First Consultation

  • Appointments can be arranged by telephoning/online. Do state whether you were referred by anyone.
  • At your first appointment you will be asked to complete a new patient registration form.
  • This New Patient Registration Form can be downloaded, and you are welcome to complete it ahead of time and bring it with you to your first appointment or can be filled and submitted online before your scheduled appointment.

Follow up patient:

  • If you are a follow up patient, you can book appointment telephonically or online for a physical visit. You don’t need to fill or bring the patient registration form again for it.
  • For problems which don’t require a physical visit/minor enquiries/non emergency services you can also use virtual visit portal for an online expert opinion consultation.(link)

What to Bring

  • Please remember to bring your lab reports, x-rays and CT or MRI scans. If you have not had any X-rays prior to your appointment, or if your X-rays are older than 6 months, please let us know in advance. It is often worthwhile and timesaving to have up to date X-rays prior to your appointment, and this can be facilitated if required.
  • Also, bring any information relevant to your medical history, such as current medication, allergies and any ongoing medical problems.

When To Arrive

  • It is best to arrive about 15 minutes prior to your appointment so that you have sufficient time to complete paperwork such as your New Patient Registration Form that includes a brief health questionnaire .

FOR SURGICAL CANDIDATES:

In case you are a surgical candidate and are advised for a surgery after due consultation and you are ready to undergo the surgery the next step would be to schedule you for;

  • Pre-Admission Assessment,
  • Preadmission Testing (PAT) and clearance,
  • Pre operative Joint classes

Pre Admission Assessment

you will need to fill some forms and have the following tentative information:

– Patient’s full name and address

– Marital status

– Name of insurance holder, his or her address and phone number and his or her work address and work phone number

– Name of insurance company, mailing address, policy, if any.

– Patient’s employer, address, phone number and occupation, if any.

– Name, address and phone number of nearest relative

– Name, address and phone number of someone to notify in case of emergency. This can be the same as the nearest relative

– Height and weight

– Medical and surgical history

– List of all medications (prescribed, over-the-counter, vitamins, supplements, herbals etc.)

Pre admission testing (PAT)-Obtain Tests, Medical, Cardiac and Anesthesia Clearance.

– You will have to undergo certain tests which include lab, radiological and cardiac tests.

–  The appointment for these will be fixed by the joint coordinator and will be intimated to you by phone. Any specific instructions regarding the tests will also be told to you. The tests will take approx. half to one day of you.

– After you have completed the above formalities and obtained your test results you will be scheduled for consultation with physician/cardiologist depending upon your test results and anesthetic doctor for your surgical clearance.

– You may be instructed regarding any need for Blood Transfusion pre/post surgery incase required depending upon your test reports.

– You may get additional instructions as directed by Anesthetist.

Pre Operative Joint Classes:

A special class is held weekly for patients scheduled for joint surgery. The joint coordinator will schedule this class for you 1-2 weeks prior to your surgery. You will only need to attend one class. It is strongly suggested that you bring a family member or friend. Members of the team will be there to answer your questions. Tentatively, the joint classes will cover the following topics.

Hospital stay and further course:

After all these have been completed you will be admitted a day before surgery for your surgical procedure.

The tentative hospital stay would be for 5-7 days depending upon your recovery process. (Unless enrolled as a candidate for Outpatient Knee Replacement).

You will be discharged after you have achieved a certain level of clinical independence for yourselves and home care advised accordingly.

If everything goes well you will be called in OPD post surgery after 1 week-10 days and subsequently at 3 months/6 months /1 year post surgery and for a lifelong of yearly visits.
